This is quite late in coming; computer woes had us down for a while, but I am back with a newish computer and able to finish up my raccoon journals for the year at last.

This edition was set on July 20th, at their Sunday Open House.  It includes the showcasing of some of the permanent residents, a brief reveal of the newly arrived baby vultures, and the groundbreaking for their new eagle enclosure.

Here we have a baby Turkey Vulture.

Stinky the Screech Owl was quite the sight, and enjoyed a lot of attention, often with his friend Rob.

The Kestrels kept to themselves largely.

But the Fawns were quite curious about all of their visitors.

Momma Possum tried to hide out for much of the day, but was brought out for a bit.  Blind and mostly deaf, she had little trouble with the crowds.

The Ducklings stayed in for the most part, as did the more injured Goslings, though the five healthy ones were set free to roam in the meadow to the right of the main center.

They broke ground for the new eagle enclosure they intend to build.  There was a big ceremony, complete with several children in eagle costumes.  No actual eagles yet.

The Minks also made an appearance.  Amusingly, not long after it was discovered that they'd been leaving their enclosure via a tunnel they'd discovered, but going back because they knew they could get food there.

One of the supporters takes in abandoned domestic animals; dogs, cats, birds, and more.  She had a pair of young birds with her she was looking after, too young to be left alone for long, a finch and a budgie.

Another big event was the naming of the young Red-Tailed Hawk that would become a permanent resident due to a bad leg and wing.  Voting was done via contributions, and the name which won was Eragon.
