I wanted to make myself a pair of goggles, both for the steam punk/mad scientist angle, and to protect my eyes during the harsh winters here. Modern glasses styles tend to be very small and don't do much to guard the eyes against the winds the town I live in is infamous for.
This is stage three. A glossy chocolate brown enamel paint has been applied, over which I've added a tuscan red paint designed to crack; this had to be slathered on, as it was almost putty-like. I then ran the goggles under water before the cracked paint could set, so that only hints of it remained here and there to obtain the rusty look. Blue tape was used to protect the lenses, though I did add some copper leaf to the tinted ones, in an area not actually visible from within. This is the fourth of five pictures for this stage.
