WIP - Brass Boots Part 2

I have a problem getting shoes that fit; my feet are big and wide, meaning that I either have to go up several sizes or manage to find a pair that are wide, which often is difficult. I found these big size 13 Spaldings at the thrift store and got them to drop the price from 10 bucks to 5 because of the many places where the plastic lace guides were broken free. I then ripped out those lace guides and replaced them with brass fixtures, then replaced the hooks at the top with more brass. I also removed the brand name labels from the tongues.

I then taped them up and used liquid brass and an acrylic sealant on the fronts and backs; excess should wear off, as I did not spray there.

Next came the brass boot tips and heels. Because the boots aren't a standard shape, I had a bit of difficulty getting them on, and I may still make more adjustments to insure they stay firmly in place, such as wiring them on. I'll determine that once I've tested them out a bit with walking. I am pretty certain I am going to have to do more to anchor these in place; the nails weren't meant for the spongy, rubbery material in my boots' soles but something more solid.

I still intend to add an embroidered or vinyl emblem, of my own design, on the sides.
