I'm critiquing this particular photo because of the food photos you submitted and allow critiques for - this one is the most appealing to me simply for the lovely colors.

I love it when you look at a food you're preparing and think "wow this should be a painting."

Food photography is so difficult, which is actually why in the advertising world none of the food they shoot is real. Real food is hard to light, it tends to have irregular reflections that make it seem unappealing, slimy, or bland.

Me personally I only ever think of taking photos of food I make in the evening, which is actually a terrible time to do it.

I think in the future you should play more with composition. Explore different angles, different kinds of lighting, make use of a macro lens if you can. Personally I think a macro lens is Food Porn's best friend.

Indoor lighting, especially when it comes to the overhead light of a kitchen stove tends to seriously degrade the quality of the shoot - which is why when you see most Food Porn is shot by a window.

It's the difference between a delicious concoction of fruits and flavors...and a bowl of puss.

I think this is actually a pretty good photo all things considered but if you're serious about food photography I'd cook during a time where I can get good lighting.
