Snowy Owl Choker

This necklace, along with the preceding set, represents my first time working with memory wire.

For those unfamiliar with it, memory wire is thin, tempered stainless steel wire. The wire is corrosion resistant and will resist tarnishing. Like a spring, it's rigid and snaps back to its original form when expanded and released. The wire "remembers" its shape and retains its coil form. This can make it ideal for projects where you want to attain a certain shape, but also difficult to work with, as it has very little give.

A simple display of large leaf-patterened metal and oblong mother-of-pearl beads works nicely to frame the central silver owl. It can be worn as a choker or allowed to hang longer in a U shape. It holds its shape well enough that the clasp and chain at the back are almost a formality when worn high.
