I found this bumblebee lost and forlorn on the side patio at Ellwood House, a Victorian-era mansion here in DeKalb, Illinois, built by one Isaac Ellwood, one of the barbed-wire barons. It was having difficulty flying, I believe because of the high winds. I snapped some good pictures and carefully tried to help it on its way, finally depositing it safely among some bushes where it would not run the risk of being trampled.
Having given our friend a lift, it rests on the back of my hand. You can really see the details of the fuzz, antennae, and wings, and the contrast in its size even to the hairs on my hand.
