I love to personalize my hats. I have over seventy, and for my birthday this year added two more to my collection; a nice, jaunty little burgundy bowler and this very comfortable, well-worn vintage brown fedora.
I am also a great fan of trickster gods and spirits. I used to wear a kokopelli ring on the same finger as my wedding ring, but it broke and then was lost. I've lamented this for many months, so when I saw a couple of kokopelli key rings that caught my eye, I ordered them, one to turn into a pendant and the other for this. Anchoring one end in the band itself and the other via a small clear elastic hair band I now have a neat little dancing kokopellis accessory for my fedora.
Sometimes you have to do a lot of work and modification to make something neat. And sometimes all you have to do is look at something from a different angle. A key chain becomes a hat decoration with little effort. A crystal door or drawer knob becomes the handle on a cane. A piece of chandelier glass or an old pin or medal becomes the centerpiece for a necklace. So on. Get creative and you can transform all sorts of interesting items into something new.
