My wife's parents have a 'tiel named Sunny. I have some pictures of him in my gallery. He was found; when my wife was a teen, long before I met her, her grandmother called her to come over and get this pet bird that had flown into her yard. She was thinking it would be a budgie, and pedaled over on her bike with the budgie cage precariously perched on her handlebars.
And it turned out to be a cockatiel. My wife's parents still have him. He's over 20 now, a venerable age for a 'tiel, and in great health. They still call him 'she' because they, too, originally thought he was a female. Sunny hates fingers, crows, and blue jays and loves vanilla ice cream.
Wow, cute! He must think there are so many other birds. My cockatiel thinks his reflection in his mirror is a friend, and he spits up food on the end of the perch for his 'friend' to eat.
Maui sings to his reflection. Our other two are not so thrilled; Vinnie ignores his reflection and Luna is a bit aggressive even. Our budgies take no apparent interest either.
Thank you. It's not easy getting a good photo of him in there; most of them came out badly, since I can't see well what's inside when I am trying to get them.
