In the middle is our new flock member, Jimmy. He takes his name from Jimmy Olsen, because Clark (to the left), named for a certain Kent, took an immediate liking to him. He's a spangled English budgie (aka parakeet); the 'spangled' part comes from the particularly large and showy 'necklace' of spots around his neck. He's just a baby, as you can tell by his particularly big eyes, though he's unlikely to get much larger. Even so, he's already bigger than Winter, our big white English.
To the right is Vinnie, our pied rescue cockatiel. His previous owner passed away after having him for ten years, and he is now one of our three 'tiels. Vinnie didn't know quite what to make of our big new budgie at first, but he investigated and has, amazingly enough, adopted Jimmy as his own, often flying with him when spooked or hanging out with him. He's even come to his defense. Apparently Vinnie has decided that Jimmy is his!
