Growing up I mostly had dogs and cats, though when I was very young we had a bird I only vaguely remember.
Since meeting my wife we've had a shifting flock. Liriel and Hale are our two 'tiels we've lost. For budgies, Judge Jay and Tater Tot were Englishes, and then there've been Ku'uipo (our longest-lived budgie, who thought he was a cockatiel), Snowball (who lived with us only a day before she died of illness), Rogue, Logan and Traveller (who both died within days of Ku; after the two boys died, we think Logan just couldn't hang on), Oliver, Robin, and most recently Dandy.
My wife's parents also have Sunny, a 21 year old cockatiel. It's never easy losing them, but we love our flock and every moment we've had with them.
I recently adopted (and by that I mean caught) a budgie. I named her Peewee Herman (who turned out to be a Hermione) partly after the actor, partly because of her size compared to Ku. She follows him around like he's her brother. Ku doesn't like her much :/
