This is Gourdon Jr., so named because he's a smaller version of our giant jack-o'-lantern pillow. Gourdon Jr. is a mask I've made for Halloween. I took a hollow foam craft pumpkin and cut out the bottom and top, then cut out this face. The hat is kept in place by pins carefully hidden by the hat band. In order to be able to see and breath but not be seen I used layers of black tule circles held in place by thumbtacks on the inside. I will post pics of the full costume.
Why not just glue the tulle and hat in place instead of using thumbtacks and pins? Or is there plans to reuse the pumpkin for other things later hence the temporary fixtures?
I often wear the hat on its own, and I might always want to do something else with the pumpkin, perhaps change the featuers or stuff behind the face. I prefer to keep things temporary here, especially with my hat, which I don't wish to ruin.
