Description

This white-lined sphinx moth, of the family sphingidae, is often mistaken for a hummingbird. This is because it has evolved a very similar shape in order to allow it to hover and feed from flowers. It has thin wings that can beat with incredible speed, and is one of the fastest fliers in the insect world. It also has a very long proboscis, visible in some shots here.
